aluminum window screen, 18" x 18" x 2", 2011

This texture study was made from cutting and crimping segments of aluminum window screen and then twisting them into a "rope". After reaching about 20 feet in length, I tightly coiled the rope into the position seen here.

Hollywood

  • Painting

Acrylics on paper, collaged on canvas. 4'x5'. 2010

This is a summer-blockbuster monstrosity, a Hollywood re-imagining of a classic. As such, it is bright yet dull, rough yet over-simplified and way bigger than it needs to be. It has completely lost site of the original, becoming a silly popcorn flick.

Tree Foliage Study

  • Sketch

Walking is great. Just great. Wonderful thing to do, walking is. As such, when the mood strikes, I go for walks. To no place in particular, just around, usually in very large circles. On one such occasion, I happened upon a large old tree in the park near my house. Maybe an oak? I'm not so great with names. I was suddenly struck with the urge to climb said tree, after all, that is what trees are for. Luckily, I happened to have my sketchbook with my on this occasion, and a black china marker, as it is one of my favorite media for sketching. So, I found my self sitting in a tree for quite some time sketching the branches and leaves. Pretty fantastic way to spend an afternoon, let me tell you.
